Swimming Pool DIY Do’s and Don’ts
October 12, 2016Now that you own the pool of your dreams, you must care for it in the proper manner to ensure it is always ready for use during warm weather. Without sufficient maintenance, you will be spending an exorbitant amount of time repairing the pool rather than enjoying it. In order to perform various tasks on your pool correctly, you need to learn the list of swimming pool do's and don'ts in the following details.
1. Do clean the pool regularly. You need to scrub the sides of your swimming pool at least once a week or when you notice any residue building up on the sides and other areas of it.
2. Do check for cracks and other issues. As you clean the pool, notice if there are problems, such as cracks, that require immediate attention.
3. Do check the filters during the cleaning process to ensure that they are not clogged. They play the important role of keeping dirt and debris out of the pool water and mechanics.
4. Do cover the pool when not in use for long periods of time. This will prevent dirt, leaves, branches and other debris from accumulating in the water.
5. Do shock the water at the beginning of the swim season. Even when you cover your pool over the winter, do not assume that the water is ready for swimming without first shocking it with the right chemicals first. In addition, allow the pump to circulate the water for the recommended amount of time before you take a dip in the water.
6. Do replace broken light panels or bulbs.
7. Don't neglect the condition of your pool, as it will become unhealthy even to have in your backyard let alone swim in with your friends and family.
8. Don't add the wrong amount of chemicals to your water. For example, an excess of chlorine will hurt your eyes and skin.
9. Don't try to work on the mechanics of the pool unless you have the right qualifications. If you do not heed this word of caution, you may make matters worse instead of repairing the equipment in the proper manner.
10. Don't wait to call a professional to address your pool problem when the issue is of a nature that you cannot address correctly.
